Rev. Robin Dease

Dease felt the call to ministry while a student at Claflin University majoring in elementary education. With a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry in stewardship from Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, D.C., Dease joined the S.C. Conference in 1992 and was ordained an elder in 2001. She first served as pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, Johns Island (1998-2008), followed by John Wesley UMC, Greenville (2008-2012) and Interim chair of the Department of Philosophy and Religion at Claflin University, Orangeburg (2012-2013).


MillieSmithCongregational Specialist

Rev. Millie Nelson Smith


Reverend Millie Nelson Smith is a Congregational Specialist with the South Carolina Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. In this position she equips and connects local churches to empower them to be effective in ministry to the communities they serve. Helping local churches be the hands and feet of Christ in the world is her focus. Her area of specialized ministry is outreach and missions. She also assists local congregations with church growth, leadership development, and congregational motivation. Millie has more than 20 years of experience in church and community work as a trainer and equipper.

From broadcasting, community organization, small group training, to preaching and teaching, and one on one coaching, Millie has been instrumental in helping people, churches, and communities to realize the potential that they have within. Harnessing that potential and using it to promote individual, family, and communal growth has been a gift that she has shared with many. The energy, enthusiasm, and excitement she brings to ministry is refreshing to all who have an opportunity to work with her. Her realness and authenticity makes it easy for others to connect with and relate to her.

Millie holds an Associates Degree in Business and went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Public Affairs from Columbia College, Columbia, South Carolina. She earned her Master of Divinity degree from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, South Carolina and was commissioned provisional elder at the 2010 session of the South Carolina Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. She was ordained elder in full connection at the 2012 session of the South Carolina Annual Conference.

A native of South Carolina, Millie is married to the Rev. Dr. James P. Smith. They have six children and six grandchildren who are the joy of their lives. Her faith in God and loving her family is her source of strength.

A servant from the heart, Millie says, “It doesn’t matter where I serve or how I serve. I’m just going to serve. I have a charge to keep and a job to do and I can’t stop until it’s through.”

Claudine S. Jackson

Claudine was born in Hartsville, SC and raised in Bishopville, SC. She earned an Associate in Business – Office Systems Technology from Florence-Darlington Technical College.
She is delighted to serve as the Administrative Assistant for the Hartsville District Office. Claudine lives in Hartsville and she is married to Gregory Jackson and they have four children.
